Wednesdays with Westminster
January 16 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Our first WWW of 2019 will be on January 16, and it will be a great one! Avshi Weinstein, co-founder of Violins of Hope will join us. Violins of Hope is a collection of more than 50 restored violins that were played by Jewish musicians during the holocaust, surviving concentration camps, ghettos, pogroms, an long journeys to tell remarkable stories of injustice, suffering, resilience,, and survival. You can learn more at https://violinsofhopeknox.com
We will have an opportunity to hear them played and hear their stories. As always, dinner will be served beginning at 5:45, followed by the program at 6:30. Please RSVP to Mary at email@example.com for dinner.
The instruments will also be on exhibit at UT Downtown Gallery from January 4-27, and will be played in a concert with the Knoxville Symphony on January 23-24, sponsored by the Stanford Eisenberg Knoxville Jewish Day School. There is a possibility we can purchase a block of tickets to the concert if there is enough interest. Again, speak to Mary Boyd for information.
