Organist and composer Robert Bates will be heard in recital on Friday evening, May 9, at 8:00, at Westminster. This performance is part of our 2013‒2014 Musica Organi recital series and is cosponsored by the Knoxville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Dr. Bates is Professor of Music at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. A frequent performer at national conventions and conferences sponsored by such organizations as the American Guild of Organists, the Organ Historical Society, the American Organ Academy, and the American Institute of Organ Builders, he has also won prizes for organ performance in Fort Wayne, San Antonio, Detroit, and Bruges. His program will include works by Francisco Correa de Arauxo, Johann Sebastian Bach, Dieterich Buxtehude, and Jehan Titelouze, among others.
