Wednesdays with Westminster may look a little different this year! The program is still under construction, but the basics are in place. This year, our meals will be catered! We are so grateful to those who have prepared meals for so many years, and they deserve a break. Meals will still be very affordable at about $6.00 per person.
We plan to start the season on October 3. There will be six weeks of dinners, lectures, and activities in the fall, with an Advent break from November 21 through January 2. We’ll resume on January 9, and have eight more weeks until Lent begins.
Our first offering on October 3 will actually be at First Presbyterian Church. PC(USA) International Peacemaker Jerome Bizimana from Rwanda will be speaking. It should be fascinating. We will meet at First at 5:30. Dinner is $6.00 per person, and we have been asked to RSVP so enough food can be available. Please let Mary know by September 27 if you plan to attend.
The following week will also be a field trip! We will start with dinner at Westminster, then journey down the street to Sacred Heart Cathedral for a private tour of their new sanctuary. You won’t want to miss this one!
Upcoming speakers include retired professor and author Dr. John Hodges, Mike Kaufman, Knoxville History Project’s Paul James, and Ijams naturalist Stephen Lyn Bales.
Ash Wednesday falls on March 6, 2019 with an Ash Wednesday service and imposition of ashes. On subsequent Wednesdays during Lent, we’ll have evening prayer services.
Dinner begins at 5:45, and lectures will begin at 6:30. Child care will be available for younger children, but older children are welcome to participate on the “lighter side” of things.
